Kappa League

Kappa League is a subset of the Guide Right, our National Service Initiative. Under the chairmanship of Mel Davis, the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter’s Social Action Program took the form of training activity for young men of the Alain Leroy Locke High School. Called the Kappa Instructional Leadership League, it was designed to help young men grow, receive, and develop their leadership talents in every phase of human endeavor. It provided both challenging and rewarding experiences, which richly enhanced their lives. Membership was open to male students from the tenth through the twelfth grades. The fraternity sought to help these young men to achieve worthy goals for themselves and make constructive contributions to their community when leadership roles become the responsibility.

Kappa League

The Boston (MA) Alumni Chapter welcomes the Kappa Leadership Development League, a program oriented toward helping young men to grow and develop their leadership talents in every phase of human endeavor, to Boston (MA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Kappa League, for short, provides both a challenging and rewarding experience, which richly enhances the lives of the young men in the program. Since the fundamental purpose of Kappa Alpha Psi is ACHIEVEMENT, it is, therefore, the Fraternity’s primary purpose to help these young men to achieve worthy goals for themselves and to make constructive contributions to their community when leadership roles become their responsibility.

The high school students involved with our program will benefit immeasurably from workshops dealing with SAT/PSAT preparation, study techniques, interviewing skills, economics, finance, leadership development, college entry requirements, deciding on a college major, community service, and enterprise projects.

Objectives

The objective of the Boston (MA) Alumni Chapter's Kappa League program is to promote and develop the leadership potential of its members through participation in club-oriented activities and motivation to raise their aspiration level. Kappa League members participate in activities and development projects that will expose them to planning, implementing, and discussing ideas that stimulate good leadership characteristics. All activities and programs will be drawn from one or more of the Kappa League’s Five Phases that include:

  • Self-Identity - Discipline, Assurance, Awareness, and Appearance
  • Training - Academic, Career-Choice, Preparation, and Organization
  • Competition -Politics, Career Advancement, and Sports
  • Social - Religion, The Arts, Entertainment, Conversation/Communication, and Etiquette/Manners
  • Health Education - Physical Fitness, Sex Education, Drug Education, and Health and Safety.
